I went back to endurance racing recently in the 750MC Club Enduro finale.
This was my first time in the P1 Fuels powered MX5 and my first time properly driving a RWD car. Apart from that time I put my c class into a lamp post / wall 😂🤦♂️.
Matt went out first in qualifying and got us a time on the board, I went out 2nd but hindered by clutch issues I just got a couple of sighting laps in but was unable to push on at all. An issue that was sorted by the team afterwards.
The race turned out to be very very wet, again Matt took the wheel for the first half of the race, working his way through the field. By the time I took over the rain had stopped but the track was still wet and greasy, it took me basically the entire stint to work up to a decent pace. I still didn't quite get to the limits of the machinery though. Plenty of time left on the table I reckon.
All in all a great day going back to endurance racing at Silverstone, it brings back memories of my first ever race there in the C1. I hope to get more time in the car at some point....
