She sits next to the fire seemingly in deep thought as the men and women around her performed various tasks, having been taught to maintain a camp by our new friend here. Shortly after this peace, without warning, the sounds of fighting can be heard. Followed by the sounds of marching. Without a moment's thought, she makes her way toward the tree line. Making her first few steps she sees a few soldiers stepping in her way. Thinking quickly our new friend equips her hands with a pair of socks, to the soldier's brief confusion before quickly being incapacitated by force of fist & all familiar scent of the Queen. Putting the socks back in her bag, she continues to the tree line. She will not stop running until she feels sick. On her mind are the faces of the people that are going to be returned where they belong. Feelings of guilt as well as relief come over her, while the trees and bushes go by thanks to runners' cardio. We see her again the following morning by a stream in a small dugout. She's wearing the socks from last night and thinks to herself: "If I weren't running so often, these weapons would be useless." End p6. Bonus Short Story: The Captain and his merry band of Queens Knights return to the capital safely. Treatment for the "wounded" is set up quickly by our Captain, who is now making his way to report directly to the Queen. Knowing this small victory will likely lead to her majesty over-thanking him again, he worries about falling asleep too early tonight.
