The Guardsman: It had been a long guard duty for him and his mates. Changing of the guard having just taken place. His balls are in severe pain, having been assigned to the Queens throne room the entire shift. Being a Queens guard is a double edged sword. Yes you get to see the Queen and her feet more often than anybody else. Tenting trousers are not only permitted in here presence but are considered the proper way to salute the Queen. This guard has been doing his job as a Guardsman for a long time. His tent is a strong one having built up resistance enough to not splat his trousers from looks alone, but he won't share the details of his training, saying only that it was brutal. The Guardsman has seen his fellow newbies and present newbies lose the Guardsman title only a day in, having accidents as the Queen merely walks by. Only one Guardsman is permitted in the Queens bedchamber, the most brave and honorable of them all. The Queen and her best Guardsman are a tradition within Podia. There are no epic quests to perform but being a treasured advisor to the Queen is its own epic quest to him. He keeps the Queen safe everywhere she goes, he keeps the Guardsmen in line and trained, he keeps her feet warm at night. The Cobbler: She wakes up with the sun over Podia. She steps across the street to her "Cobblery" and settles into the workshop for the day. The Cobbler thinks back to the day they inherited the shop from their father, who is happily retired spending the days with her mother, having worked what is considered "Long Enough" in Podia. Sitting on the workbench is a half-constructed pair of wedge flipflops, a special order from the Royalty. This particular Queen has a preference for flipflop style footwear. Queens of the past often had footwear preferences, but this is the first to wear the style almost all of the time. A few photos are on the wall above the workbench. Her proud ancestors in the seat before the throne, at the Queens feet, dressing her divine feet with the shoes they made proudly! Those shoes sit in sealed cases in the castle along with other preferred feet attire they might have worn often. Having been sealed with the passing of the throne, each case and shoe within retain the scent of that Queen forever. The scents are used for ceremonial purposes. This has been a small look into just two citizens of Podia. Please, if you have the time after reading to comment constructive criticism or ideas of what kind of people could live in Podia please indulge me!
