Some of the most spectacular things are not available just anywhere or on demand. Sometimes it takes patience (waiting), sacrifice (lost sleep), and discomfort (extreme conditions) to experience something truly magical, but if you’re willing to endure temporary discomforts you may get to savor those spectacles. Tonight was a night of gratitude and awe for this girl as the aurora borealis graced the sky with a magnificent presence. There is so much more for us to see and experience. One of my favorite quotes (maybe by Carl Sandburg?) says, “there is no time to be bored in a world as beautiful as this.” I hope I never lose my interest in seeing the world, that I always maintain a love for my planet, and never stop reflecting on the beauty that exists all around us, all the time.
