Table Backstory: *I have been searching 18 months for a 19th century French “baker’s table” (tall + narrow tables used for rolling dough and food prep in French farmhouses). These are hard to come by and outrageously expensive. Since I relocated to Portugal 18 months ago I haven’t had a dining table. No table at all. I waited all this time eating meals in my lap because while functionality is important to me, design is more important. My thinking was, why spend the money and create unnecessary consumer waste buying a new (and likely poorly made) temporary table, when eventually I’d just get rid of it and invest in something design-specific and vintage (yay upcycling). Introducing: this hunk of wood from circa 1905. I’ve been waiting weeks for its delivery and yesterday it showed up unexpectedly ahead of schedule. I’m obsessed with this table and grateful to finally have a flat surface in my home*. **This is one of my favourite bits of content I’ve created in all of 2022.
