Reflecting on what it would be like if time actually began to “wind back.” I’ve always been somebody that believes in determinism and touted “I don’t have free will actually” sometimes to escape the blame but also to acknowledge that we exist within a causal chain of events, & the only “x factor” or “chance” to me could essentially be explained by the butterfly effect combined with human nature and the brain’s sporadic tendencies to make random decisions on a whim. To be consistent to this view implies that you believe either 1) there are at least a few things up to chance or 2) there is not Actually anything up to chance, there must be a linear(or networked) quality to the dimensions we live in. Tonight I explored the possibility of the second option in my head. Although I don’t believe it, I had fun imagining a time when the universe upends itself and sets course in reverse, in a world where we appear to be magnetic as items we push away come back to us. I think I saw a film once where they explored this idea with an egg returning to its shell in reverse from being cracked. Oh, to be in a world where everything falls into place.
