Toy Village 🧸 Few people know now that the famous ballet "The Nutcracker" by Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky and the story "The Nutcracker and the Mouse King" by Ernst Theodor Amadeus Hoffmann were inspired by a small wooden toy created by former miners in a small town in eastern Germany 🏔️ Seiffen is a community that produces incredibly beautiful wooden toys! More than 300 years ago, it was just a mining settlement that mined tin ⛏️ In the winter season, work in the mines stopped and on long, dark evenings residents carved funny toys from wood. However, over time the mines began to run out, and the community risked being left without a livelihood. Then the enterprising miners came up with the idea to start making high-quality wooden toys 🎁 The thing is that they had special grinding tools, so their wooden toys had a pleasant feel to them - you wanted to hold them in your hands, touch them and play with them 🤗 No one remembers who first came up with the idea of creating a silly toy that could crack nuts, but it was the Nutcracker that people really loved and it caused an instant sellout at fairs! Most likely, it was at one of these fairs where young Hoffmann noticed it, immortalizing the image of the Nutcracker and bringing eternal glory to Seiffen 🌄 Currently about 2,000 people live in Seiffen, most of the population is engaged in the production of wooden toys!
