YELLOWSTONE NATIONAL PARK: Nestled in the corner of 3 states, Montana, Wyoming and Idaho, lies a stunning stretch of land like a mashup of other planetary terrains. The abundance and diversity of wildlife is like going on a North American safari. I started my adventures there with a 5.5 mile hike deep into the backcountry on the Wyoming and Montana border. I started hiking in Montana and slept that night in Wyoming. I never saw another person once I was a mile or so in and then not until I was about a mile out. I had the place to myself...and all the wildlife of course. I was on high alert since there was a bear siting. I did see a black bear the next day as I hiked out.
