The misty weather created an incredible, otherworldly atmosphere—but it also brought a biting chill. By late afternoon, fatigue and the onset of freezing due to Parkinson’s left me struggling to move. I pushed on as long as I could, but as night set in around 6 p.m., I knew I couldn’t make it back down alone.
Calling for mountain rescue was a tough decision, but I’m so grateful I did. The rescue team arrived and, after assessing my condition, they decided to take me down by stretcher. The journey from near the summit back down took over five hours. Their dedication and skill were incredible they carefully navigated the rocky ridge in the darkness and kept me as warm as possible during the descent.
Finally back to safety, I’m incredibly grateful for the Patterdale mountain rescue team and everyone who reached out with support. Recovering now and already thinking about my next adventure!
