So I get very bad period cramps and usually the only thing that can help is taking lots of ibuprofen and taking a scalding hot bath. This period was the most painful I had experienced yet so I think I took more ibuprofen than my stomach was able to handle. I had taken 800mg first thing and it didn’t even touch the cramps. Then I did another 700mg 4 hours later. And then another 600mg 6 hours after the last one. I had not eaten basically anything as well because of the pain I was in. So fast forward a few hours after my last dose and I was beginning to have some serious gastrointestinal issues. Then suddenly I felt this burning/pressure/aching sensation right near my diaphragm area. Right in the center where my rib cage ends. The pain was so horrible I could barely breathe it felt like. I was panicking pretty hard and ended up calling 911 because of how much it hurt and how my entire chest felt like it was being sat on and squeezed at the same time. I was worried it was something with my heart. I get to the ER and I’m still in this horrible amount of pain while they’re doing all these tests. It was horrible to sit there for so long in that kind of pain. Especially in such a scary area such as my chest. Everything came back normal and they gave me something for my pain/anxiety. Felt loopy and good almost immediately. They finally deduced that it was either an ulcer or gastritis. After I got home, I did some research on the two and I definitely had a gastritis attack caused by how much ibuprofen I took. My stomach is still recovering and I’m needing to see a gastroenterologist. Definitely a really scary and awful experience but I’m glad it was nothing too serious!
