Updates on Sammy, the newest rescue! **warning** his eye has a tumor so if that will disturb you don’t swipe!
This is Sammy - he is Ginny’s son and my newest rescue! He stands 31” tall and is very fat. No one wanted him because of his eye. He was left in a field and forgotten and not cared for until a few weeks ago where I learned about his existence and bought him immediately. He is currently living in a boarding barn (not the same as dez sadly) while Ginny recovers! She needs to be at full strength before the stress of another pony is introduced, even if she knows him. I should mention, his full name is Egg Salad Sandwich.
So on Thursday, he got to see a vet, possibly for the first time in ever! The vet arrived and spent an hour with me taking samples for testing, cleaning his teeth, examining his eye, and other care stuff! She said he seems in good shape, despite the overgrown hooves and overdue teeth. He’s “not the fattest mini pony” that she’s seen. But I’m sure he’s up there lol.
She believes his eye is a benign, local tumor. It will have to be removed and it’s easiest and less risky to remove the whole eye as well. I figured a surgery was needed when I bought him, so this was so surprise! He will be booked in at the hospital for this asap, and then coming home to my farm from there. Horses can live just fine with one eye, just like a cat or a dog. He will be home and healthy soon!
Thank you all for your support in my rescue adventures!
I am very pleased to let you know that the support on my b/g campaign covered his rather large vet bill for his first visit and all the testing! Thank you!!!!
