Added 2022-08-23 08:24:28 +0000 UTCI’ve wanted this Dumbo hoodie for years but I was un- willing to pay 150+ bucks on a novelty sweatshirt. (Reference sweatshirt in the last three pics.)
So instead I finally decided it was time for a DIY project in time for my October trip to Disney World.
Bought myself one small hoodie, and three 2XL hoodies to cut up and make pieces out of.
Cut out the biggest ears I could, added pink minky I had in my collection for the soft pink front of the ears and sewed them together on my machine. Then I folded and pleated the ears to fit in a slit I cut on each side of the hood of the sweatshirt. Sewed them onto the hood and now I’m ready for some more styling! Considering adding a tail in the back.
Adding a red and yellow stripe ruffle to the outline of the face, and adding a magnet in the top of the hood to attach different Dumbo-style hats.
If I do say so myself, my DIY is damn good. Maybe even better than the original: mine has bigger ears, and is it really Dumbo without GIANT ears?
