Trusting your gut instincts is a crucial aspect of situational awareness. I can’t tell you how many times I trusted my gut and was right about something, whether it was about if traffic was going to be bad a certain way or if a girl was going to end up wasting my time. Or better yet, learning from my mistakes of NOT trusting my gut, and getting myself in a shit situation. Our subconscious mind can detect subtle cues that our conscious mind may miss, providing valuable insights into potential dangers. If something feels off or triggers a sense of discomfort, it's important to trust those feelings. These gut instincts allow us to tap into our innate perception and make rapid decisions when faced with potential threats. By prioritizing our well-being and validating our instincts through experience, we enhance our overall situational awareness and empower ourselves to take proactive measures for personal safety. It's important to strike a balance between intuition and rational thinking, ensuring that gut instincts serve as an additional layer of information in our decision-making process.

I know the news can be a drag sometimes and everything is negative, the media does this on purpose to keep viewers up. Humans are naturally curious about negativity by nature. That’s why when there’s an accident on the far right side of a 4-lane highway, the open 2 lanes are backed up due to people slowing down to look. Find an app or 3 that gives reputable information, maybe nationwide, local, and worldwide, and set up breaking news notifications on it. Be aware of connecting dots in the area, I don’t want to make it seem like I’m some crazy prepper (I am) but I am stocking on ammo and supplies nonstop. The current events happening every day are all too volatile and coincidental to be an accident. Stay informed about local news around you, security alerts, and trends in your area. Being aware of any recent incidents or potential risks can help you adjust your awareness levels and take extra precautions when necessary.
One with the mind.
It’s taken years of anxious and stressful situations to become fully present in the moment. Being mindful and practicing the art of mindfulness is an important trait that will heighten your overall awareness stats.
By being fully present and engaged in the moment, you sharpen your senses and become attuned to your surroundings. Engaging your senses to their fullest potential allows you to notice even the slightest shifts or anomalies, empowering you to recognize potential threats and maintain personal safety through situational awareness.

MAINTAIN 360 VIGILANCE
Now that is something I heard nonstop in the Military, whether it was on the ship’s 1MC intercom, radio transmissions, or before a mission briefing. Maintaining 360-degree awareness is shortened to “keep your head on a swivel” which I’m sure you’ve heard before in movies. Avoid fixating on just one direction or point of focus. Instead, strive to maintain a 360-degree awareness of your surroundings. When you’re walking down the sidewalk, look left, look right, look left, look behind, and repeat. Again, it’s not like you’re shaking your head back and forth nonstop. Just every couple seconds notice who’s around you, what’s around you, etc. Use your peripheral vision to stay aware of what's happening in your immediate vicinity, even while focusing on a particular task or conversation.
This can also be a part of another key point of situational awareness of scanning the environment. Start by looking at the immediate area in front and gradually expand your focus to include the entire surroundings. Pay attention to any unusual or out-of-place objects, vehicles, or individuals that may catch your attention. This proactive scanning helps you identify potential threats or dangers before they become immediate concerns.

Tacking Personal Safety with more Situational Awareness.
When you exit and enter a room, be aware of what you’re walking into. Ask yourself, how many exits are here? Where are those exits? How easily can I access them? What obstacles are in the way? Once I get to the exit, will it be locked? What is on the other side of the door? These are all questions you should be asking yourself when you enter a building or room. It doesn’t take 5 minutes to think about it. These are millisecond questions that all happen within the blink of an eye. Start practicing asking yourself these questions the next time you leave your house.
Whenever you enter a new environment, take that millisecond moment to mentally map out the available exit routes. Be aware of emergency exits, stairwells, or alternative exits that you can utilize if needed. Knowing your escape options can provide a sense of security and enable you to react quickly in case of an emergency.
This can make the difference between you making it out of a casualty alive vs as a victim.

How can you defend yourself if you’re oblivious to your surroundings? You’ve got to be aware of your surroundings and have situational awareness. You’ll be better prepared to recognize and respond to potential threats with just a little bit of awareness.
Observing people’s behaviors gives you an edge to prevent or be prepared for anything that they may be trying. Pay close attention to the individuals around you. Notice their body language, facial expressions, and overall demeanor. Don’t just walk down the street willy-nilly without a care in the world. Body language is the most important factor regarding communication with someone. How they’re acting tells more than what they’re actually saying or their tone. Identifying potential threats early on can give you an advantage in avoiding or mitigating dangerous situations. Practice basic personnel observation as your baseline for self-awareness in your self-defense journey.

It's all about staying vigilant and actively scanning your environment. I'll teach you practical exercises to enhance your awareness skills, such as observing people's behavior, noting exit routes, and staying one step ahead of any potential danger.

By far the Middle East & Africa was the most fascinating place to travel to, but also the most dangerous. The battles against drug, weapon, & human traffickers in the Sea of Oman were relentless. We faced constant challenges and relied on our strength, resilience, and tactical training to come out on top. It was clear that without our rigorous training, we would have been at a significant disadvantage. Human trafficking in South and Central America was a heartbreaking reality we confronted head-on. Our training in close-quarter combat, intel searching, and crisis response became essential tools in our fight. We became warriors, rescuing innocent lives and bringing justice to those who preyed on the vulnerable.

Hey there, my fellow warriors. My Military background came with plenty of “lessons learned.” One crucial lesson learned was staying physically fit and training like a beast. This kept me and my teammates alive. We all depended on each other to pull our own weight. If my teammate went down and I wasn’t fit enough to carry them, they possibly would have died, it’s that simple. Without being physically fit, I wouldn't be here today, as there were many close calls in which being physically fit and staying lethal was a make or breaking point.
During my time in the Navy, I had the shared vital responsibility of ensuring maritime security and protecting innocent lives. We faced the danger of pirates lurking off the Horn of Africa, but our rigorous training and unwavering vigilance allowed us to shut down their attempts and keep our fellow seafarers safe. It was a wake-up call, emphasizing the importance of physical fitness and self-defense skills in life-or-death situations. I remember waking up at the crack of down to run on the treadmill on the ship, while the ships rocking back and forth, followed up by a set up pushups, pull-ups, and ab workouts. Sometimes me and my shipmates would switch it up and do light sparring on the flight deck with punching bags. It doesn't have to be much, keep it stupid simple.
