In Italy many children get two sets of gifts – one on the 24th of December and a larger gift on the 6th of January.

Orthodox Christmas usually falls around that time of year (this year it's Jan 7th) since it goes according to the Julian calendar, which predates the Gregorian calendar.

Two sets of presents! Oh, to be a kid in Italy. The food, the women, the two sets of presents...

This week was a rough one, so I didn't get to update as I planned, but I have a new set, some selfies, and a video lined up. Pre-holiday has always been tough for me with having the candle and soap store, but my book was released this week (Monty, A Tale of No Tail on Amazon & Barnes and Noble) and there was that, too. I've been out and about and haven't had much time to sit down.
Additionally, the world has been a bit of a sheep shagging shitshow, so some days can be rather challenging.
Mind the bridge. ;)

I've been on a roller coaster for a while now. I work severa..

I've been on a roller coaster for a while now. I work several career avenues...everything from writing/journalist/children's book author (which just went to print and has been taking some time/energy to finalize) to being a candle and soapmaker, and we apparently hit "Tis the Season" early this year. (Etsy.com/shop/AprilsScentSations). But I'm also a homesteader. Chickens, fruit frees, growing food...and I just lost my entire little flock over the past 2 weeks. It's been a shock. One was quite brutally killed by a predator, despite the fencing and precautions in place.
I've always been "The Crazy Chicken Lady" of my area, taking in strays and rehoming hens for others. Now, I've had to rehome my own...the remaining survivor, Pebbles, whom I've had for six years and raised since day 2. She's a pet, so it's been gutting. I found a good farm for her, but this hasn't been an easy decision and it's taken a lot out of me. Hens are meant to be in flocks, groups. Not alone. It's for her best, but not mine. The routine of caring for them no matter what and getting outside on a regular basis due to necessity has been sanity for me.

This year, I lost my corgi and my hens...all within about 7 months. I also lost what was left of my family a few years ago. Several of my close friends (who have been like family) moved away this year on top of that, so all of this has affected me.
I foster dogs now...Pax, who got along well with Pebbles, became her BFF. My cat and she got along, too, thankfully.
I'm grateful to all who are patient with me. Like I said...a roller coaster. Some days, all I have left over is enough to nuke some food and go for a walk.
I'm thinking this is relatable for many.
I have to go in for another minor surgical procedure today, an ablation. I'll be around all weekend, so I'll be checking in. :)

And, as you can see, a fellow redhead.

I met her when a fan casually tagged me in an article she'd tweeted about dreams (she's an expert dream translator) and I invited her on The A Show podcast.
She's since hosted our show, and for my birthday, as a gift, she came up with the idea of creating "April Art."
