Who says a Missouri mom/teacher can’t be cool??? 😎 Streetwear in the American Midwest has its roots in the broader cultural movements of the late 20th century, particularly in cities like Chicago, Detroit, and Minneapolis. While initially influenced by East and West Coast styles, streetwear in the Midwest developed its own unique characteristics and subcultures. In the 1980s and 1990s, hip-hop culture played a significant role in shaping streetwear aesthetics in the Midwest, with artists like Eminem from Detroit and Kanye West from Chicago bringing attention to the region's fashion scene. Brands like FUBU, Phat Farm, and Sean John, which originated on the East Coast but gained popularity nationwide, were embraced by Midwestern youth. As the 2000s progressed, streetwear in the Midwest began to evolve independently, with local brands and designers emerging to cater to the region's distinct tastes and preferences. Cities like Chicago became hubs for streetwear culture, hosting events like sneaker conventions and streetwear expos. Today, streetwear in the American Midwest continues to thrive, with a mix of local brands, national retailers, and online communities driving the scene forward. Influenced by music, sports, and urban culture, Midwest streetwear reflects the region's diverse and dynamic identity while maintaining connections to broader global trends.

Park benches have been around for centuries, evolving from simple stone or wooden slabs to more comfortable and aesthetically pleasing designs. The concept of providing seating in public spaces dates back to ancient civilizations like the Greeks and Romans, who had stone benches in their forums and public gathering places. In the Middle Ages, benches made of wood became more common in public parks and gardens. During the 19th century, with the rise of urbanization and the development of public parks, park benches became more standardized and widespread. They were often made of cast iron or wood, with decorative elements reflecting the design trends of the time, such as Victorian or Art Nouveau styles. In the 20th century, park bench design continued to evolve, incorporating new materials like steel, aluminum, and plastic, as well as more ergonomic and functional designs for greater comfort and durability. Today, park benches can be found in a wide variety of styles and materials, catering to both practical needs and aesthetic preferences, while still serving as essential fixtures in public spaces for relaxation and socializing.

🖤 Just to continue to clarify my obsession with the Addams… ..

🖤 Just to continue to clarify my obsession with the Addams… I always felt so connected to Morticia, and as I get older I see why… Morticia is known for her striking appearance, characterized by her pale skin, long black hair, tight-fitting black gown, and gothic demeanor. Her personality is typically depicted as elegant, mysterious, and macabre, with a dry wit and a penchant for the darker aspects of life. Despite her eerie appearance and interests, Morticia is portrayed as a loving and devoted wife and mother. She often serves as the calm, grounding presence in the Addams household, maintaining a sense of grace and poise even in the face of the family's unconventional lifestyle. Morticia's most notable relationship is with her husband, Gomez Addams. Their relationship is often portrayed as passionate, romantic, and deeply affectionate. They share a unique bond characterized by mutual admiration, devotion, and a shared love for all things dark and unusual. Gomez often refers to Morticia as his "tish," expressing his adoration for her in various endearing ways. Their relationship is a central theme in many adaptations of "The Addams Family," showcasing a love that transcends societal norms and expectations.

"The Addams Family" has always been one of my favorite movie..

"The Addams Family" has always been one of my favorite movies (and families!) It began as a single-panel cartoon created by Charles Addams, which first appeared in The New Yorker magazine in 1938. The quirky and macabre family gained popularity over the years, leading to various adaptations, including a TV series in the 1960s, animated series, and several movies. The first major motion picture adaptation (and MY favorite version of the Addams) simply titled "The Addams Family," was released in 1991, directed by Barry Sonnenfeld and starring Anjelica Huston, Raul Julia, and Christopher Lloyd. It was followed by a sequel, "Addams Family Values," in 1993. These films were well-received and became classics, further solidifying the Addams Family's place in pop culture. In 2019, an animated movie with the same title was released, bringing the iconic family back to the big screen with a fresh take. Maybe if we’re lucky, @roxiotaku will cover The Addams Family in her upcoming OFTV channel…

The tradition of gifting flowers dates back thousands of years, with evidence from ancient civilizations like the Egyptians, Greeks, and Romans exchanging flowers for various occasions, including religious ceremonies, festivals, and expressions of love and affection. In the Victorian era, flowers became a means of communication, with each flower carrying its own symbolic meaning, allowing people to convey messages through floral arrangements known as "tussie-mussies." Today, gifting flowers remains a popular gesture for celebrations, expressions of sympathy, romance, and various other occasions, symbolizing beauty, affection, and emotion.

Confidence, as a concept, has a rich history spanning various philosophical, psychological, and sociological perspectives. In ancient philosophy, thinkers like Aristotle discussed confidence as a virtue linked to courage and self-assurance. During the Renaissance, thinkers like Descartes emphasized the importance of self-confidence in the pursuit of knowledge and truth. In psychology, the study of confidence gained prominence in the late 19th and early 20th centuries with the emergence of fields like behaviorism and psychoanalysis. Psychologists began to explore the role of confidence in human behavior, cognition, and motivation. Throughout the 20th century, researchers such as Albert Bandura expanded our understanding of confidence through concepts like self-efficacy, which refers to an individual's belief in their ability to achieve goals and overcome challenges. This concept became central to fields like education, therapy, and organizational psychology. In contemporary society, confidence continues to be a topic of interest and debate, with self-help literature, motivational speakers, and personal development programs often focusing on building confidence as a key to success and fulfillment. Additionally, social media and digital technologies have influenced how people perceive and express confidence, shaping contemporary discussions and practices surrounding self-esteem and self-image.

Kansas City!!!! For me, Kansas City is IN my soul, and I hon..

Kansas City!!!! For me, Kansas City is IN my soul, and I honestly feel anyone would love to experience its richness and genuine feel. I’ve learned most people don’t know the city is actually in both Kansas and MISSOURI- And I mean 50/50 (and if we’re being real, you know the best parts of the city are on the Missouri side, including Arrowhead stadium where the Chiefs play!) KC holds a massive place in my heart; it’s my favorite city for many reasons. I moved around the Midwest a lot as a kid, all over small towns, but Kansas City was always that place that we went to for things (other small town people know what I mean !!) Here's a brief overview of the city’s history: - **Early History**: Kansas City was founded in the 1830s as a port on the Missouri River. It played a significant role in westward expansion during the 19th century, serving as a major trading post and hub for pioneers heading westward on the Oregon, California, and Santa Fe Trails. - **Civil War**: During the Civil War, Kansas City was divided, with residents supporting both the Union and the Confederacy. The city experienced significant violence and conflict during this time. - **Industrialization**: In the late 19th and early 20th centuries, Kansas City became a major industrial and transportation center. The city's economy thrived with the expansion of railroads, meatpacking, and manufacturing industries. - **Jazz Era**: In the 1920s and 1930s, Kansas City earned a reputation as one of the cradles of jazz music. Legendary jazz musicians such as Count Basie and Charlie Parker emerged from the city's vibrant jazz scene, which flourished in clubs along 12th Street and Vine. - **BBQ Capital**: Kansas City is renowned for its barbecue culture, which developed in the early 20th century. The city's signature style of slow-smoked meats, savory sauces, and flavorful rubs has made it a mecca for barbecue enthusiasts from around the world. - **Cultural Diversity**: Kansas City is a melting pot of cultures, with significant contributions from African American, Hispanic, and European immigrant communities. This diversity is reflected in the city's cuisine, music, and festivals. - **Sports**: Sports are also a big part of Kansas City's culture, with passionate fans supporting teams like the Kansas City Chiefs (NFL) and the Kansas City Royals (MLB). Overall, Kansas City's history and culture are characterized by its role in westward expansion, its contributions to jazz music and barbecue, its cultural diversity, and its love for sports.
