On the 20th of May, 1932, Amelia Earhart started her journey to become the first woman - and second person only after Charles Lindbergh - to cross the Atlantic completely alone. From Canada to Northern Ireland, she spent 15 hours in the air, landing on this day 92 years ago.
To commemorate her journey I decided to pay tribute to pilots everywhere with themed photos; some black & white but all showing the clear sky - and even some planes!

204 years ago, in Florence, Italy, Florence Nightingale was born. She was raised in England by wealthy parents but rejected her social heritage, being forbidden to pursue nursing and being expected to marry a suitable man. In the next forty years she founded a hospital that contained a school for nurses, but before that she stood out in her field by rising quickly and controlling the devastation of a cholera outbreak before being called to action during the Crimean War, where she really showed her skill.
Nurses had a bad reputation at this point, but the number of injured British soldiers and the conditions that they were being kept in was leading to more deaths than by battle injuries alone, so Florence was called to assemble a team and sail out. She worked tirelessly to clean the base hospital, but also implemented various programs to improve all aspects of patient life: laundry units to ensure clean linens, kitchens that could accommodate dietary restrictions, and created spaces for intellectual stimulation through reading and learning. This work, including checking on patients overnight, earned her the nicknames “the Lady with the Lamp” and “the Angel of Crimea.”
She went on to work in government and military health operations, analyzing statistics of army mortality and implementing standards to drastically reduce deaths post-battle. This work lead to her being the first woman accepted into the Royal Statistical Society, but more importantly these changes, mathematical and sanitary, completely changed the face of nursing for the better, leading to the quality care we receive in any medical setting today.

Did you know that I’ve studied ballet? I was never gonna be in a company, but I greatly enjoyed honing my poise and gaining more physical discipline.
But how can I mention ballet without mentioning Pyotr Tchaikovsky? His most famous works include Swan Lake, the Romeo and Juliet overture, and, of course, The Nutcracker. He created his masterpieces in the late nineteenth century and was born on this day in 1840, so as commemorance of his birthday and his work please enjoy my take on a sexy nutcracker.

The Mexican victory at the First Battle of Puebla against the Second French Empire in 1862 is what marks this holiday, although the fanfare and celebrations really took off around one hundred years later. I’m not Mexican and have never participated in the celebration of this day, but I grew up in a heavily hispanic area and have a great appreciation for the culture.
A great way to appreciate this holiday is to engage with Mexican culture through tv & film, food, literature, history, and music, and today I wanna use my culinary skills to help you do that so grab a margarita and sit back while I show you how to make enchiladas y elotes - Danny style.

Todays (late) update:
From here on out these updates and my time available will be on Mondays, with the posts usually around 1pm CST and me being available most of the day, minus the gym. I'd also like to mention some changes I'm making to my release schedule: new releases will now be released in succession, with the photos teaser, and part I or II all being in a row, with two weeks between each part for other content, and the behind-the-scenes will all be free. I'll also be doing some solos and photosets as part of a series I'm calling On this Day in History, which is exactly what it sounds like. I'll finally be having Solo Sundays and Photo Tuesdays, so expect more of all of those every week! Do feel free to suggest some ideas or themes in my DMs.
Today is late, though, because this is a special update: I’m in the airport about to return from TN, where I was visiting Dollywood! I love rollercoasters and nature and exploring in general so Pigeon Forge and Gatlinburg was quite the playground, so please enjoy some pictures from the trip 🎢🐻
