Private Journal entry - Fighting Farrell’s
2017
Today is exactly 2 years since our last Diary entry! How wierd! A lot has happened in those 2 years! Brooke came to Thailand with 0 fights, I have now had 10. Eddie came with 5 fights and he has now had over 20! When we first arrived in Thailand we moved to a little hippy village in the mountains called Pai, after 3 months we hired a car and drove all the way down south to our favourite holiday destination, Koh Samui, where we spent 1.5 years as sponsored fighters out of WMC Lamai. We love Koh Samui so much and definitely recommend it to anyone who comes to Thailand for a holiday! In November 2016 we were given the opportunity by NRF Australia to both fight for titles in Australia on the same show! We decided to go to rural Bangkok to train at a well renowned fighters gym, to get us out of our comfort zone and prepare the best we could for our biggest fights to date!
This was going to be my first ever fight back in my home country in front of my friends and family, unfortunately it didn't end as well as i had hoped, however Eddie got the win and was crowned the Aussie champ! One week after this I had Op to permanently remove my 5 year old breast implants which revived a new found love and confidence for my natural self and also allowing me to fight in a much lighter weight division!
We then celebrated 2016 Christmas and New years in Koh Samui with our friends. It was the first time since moving over here that we fully let our hair down and enjoyed the island as if we were on holidays!
Coming into 2017, we really felt as though we had outgrown Koh Samui. In our 9 years together this was the longest we had stayed anywhere. Our gypsy souls wanted more growth and experience! We left once again and made the move to Phuket. We met up with some friends and started training at Maximum Fitness Patong. We both had 1 fight at the well known Bangla Stadium and Eddie made his Lethwei debut in Myanmar.
We were also given the opportunity to coach Hiit/S&C classes for income at Maximum Fitness in Patong, which we enjoyed so much! Phuket is very western now, its expensive, streets are so busy and the culture is almost gone. However there is a big fitness environment there and good shopping if thats what you are after. We made some amazing friends there who we will always stay in contact with, however after 3 months we decided city life wasn't for us.
We felt it was time to get back to nature and where we know we will enjoy. Pai. It’s now been 5 months since we moved back to this beautiful little village!
We have both had 1 fight since being back at Charn Chai MT!
