A girl came to my office, a bit worried about the new girl in the room next to hers. “She’s still with her client, and it’s been over an hour. But he only paid for half an hour…” she said. While it’s the girl’s responsibility to manage her time, I decided to check the room for security reasons.
Well, it wasn’t okay. We discovered the problem: each room has a big wall clock to track time, and it’s up to the girl to manage it. But I never imagined I’d hire someone who couldn’t read an analog clock! She confessed that she could only read digital clocks and had no idea how much time had passed.
I tried to confront the client about his honesty, implying he must have known his time was up. But he just laughed and said, that it is not really his problem. Life isn’t always fair.
Lesson learned. From now on, the entrance interview will include a new question: Can you read an analog clock? :)
