My buddy here is notorious for forgetting her exfoliating and moisturizing - we have joked about it every month for two and a half years straight haha, but today we were able to celebrate her only having a couple sensitive ingrown hairs. This is SUCH an improvement for her skin compared to how it would respond when I was using strictly soft wax on her. Not to mention, her hair has thinned quite a bit since the switch to hard wax. Eeeeep! I love seeing the positive changes that have happened since our BTS switch. Update is on my recent video on tiktok & Instagram! ๐ซถ๐ผ
Second time leaving a landing strip.
Just, whatever you do, donโt make some comment like โIโm an adult so Iโm not going completely hairless.โ ๐
Bc I donโt like getting the ick at work.
And grown ass adults can do whatever they want with their body hair ๐ค๐ผ
Reminder: for approximately 24 hours post-waxing treatment, it is considered normal for your skin to still have:
*redness
*slight tenderness
*red dots where your hair follicles are
How your skin responds after a wax depends LARGELY on your genetics and can be affected by different products & methods used in and after the treatment room
Gentle reminder to not squeeze ingrown hairs and try to pop them like a pimple. It causes bruising and rarely a successful extraction.
Instead, exfoliate 2-3x a week and moisturize daily. Your waxer will grab them when theyโre ready at your next appt ๐ค
First braz evaa ๐ฎโ๐จ these hair follicles were gnarly man. I really did โoooohโ and โahhhโ looking at every strip I pulled ๐ฉ๐ปโ๐ณ๐ค๐ผ
Client started her cycle during our wax โ no biggie! I have a bouquet of tampons handy for just that reason ๐ Handed her a fresh wipe & tamp, turned my back for a min to give her privacy and we went on our merry waxing way ๐ฉ๐ปโ๐ณ๐ค๐ผ
๐ฉ๐ปโ๐ณ๐ค๐ผ She uses lady suite products religiously, but lemme be very frank and honest and clear that her skin isnโt a realistic goal for every person. It doesnโt look this clear because of lady suite & myselfโฆ. Her vulva skin is this smooth because of her genetics. I know for sure because I wax her sister and mom and their skin is the exact same. ๐ค๐ผ
Hereโs another reminder that PCOS causing excess hair growth is a completely common, normal and out of your control thing ๐ซถ
I am so sad I forgot the โafterโ ๐ญ her skin responded beautifully
I recommended leeeetle bit more exfoliation - sheโs using the lady suite glow refiner, so I reminded her to use it about every other day and to apply directly to her skin. Also reminded her to moisturize daily and especially after she exfoliates. So cool to see that hair thinning. Five weeks since her last wax ๐ฅณ
heard AGAIN today that some waxers from where my guest used to live in Cali refuse to wax when someone is on their cycle
its BONKERS to me. imo if you work with vulvas, you should WORK WITH vulvas ๐๐
One of the most common conditions I have seen over the last 8 years in my wax room women is PCOS - Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome. It is a very common hormone problem for women of childbearing age.
The symptoms of PCOS may include:
* Missed periods, irregular periods, or very light periods
* Ovaries that are large or have many cysts
* Weight gain, especially around the belly (abdomen)
* Acne or oily skin
* Male-pattern baldness or thinning hair
* Infertilityย
* Small pieces of excess skin on the neck or armpits (skin tags)
* Dark or thick skin patches on the back of the neck, in the armpits, and under the breasts
* Excess body hair, including the chest, stomach, and back โก๏ธโฌ๏ธ
Excessive body hair growth on unexpected areas of the body is known as Hirsutism and is not present with PCOS exclusively. It can result from excess hormones called androgens and hair growth is typically seen on the face, chest and back.
I am thankful to be a safe space for women to open up to and share with their struggles. From what I have gathered, most women struggle with the physical symptoms of PCOS, such as weight gain, hair growth, and acne. Cosmetic treatments, such as electrolysis, laser hair removal or waxing may help you feel more empowered. Treatment for PCOS depends on a number of factors - these may include your age, how severe your symptoms are, and your overall health.
Treatment for PCOS should be done with the supervision of a medical professional. Talk with your health care provider about the best ways to treat the symptoms that bother you โฆโฆโฆ.. and then come vent about it alllllll to your Esthetician <3
this amount of redness post wax wouldnโt be considered normal across the board, but remember - redheads have deeper hair follicles and tend to have more sensitive skin. This amount of sensitization is completely normal for her and always subsides within about 12 hours :)
