OMFG, I got my SSI today...it is $100 less than usual! Did I get an overpayment and owe them money back? IDK because my SSA account doesnt have Aprils benefit listed yet other than what amount I am *supposed to get...I CANT afford to not have that $100

I do NOT want this to be political so just dont. Also, for those that didnt know, yes..I am disabled and SSI is my only source of income. I have said it before that I do NOT make hardly any revenue from this site which is true. There are very strict rules for reporting income while on SSI and if you make more than $60 a month than it starts to affect your SSI benefits...let me tell you that I am lucky if I make more than $20 a month from this website.

Well hello gushers! It has been FOREVER since ive been able to post here. Needless to say, life has pretty much destroyed me over the last 2 years. I can go into all the details if anyone cares. I do want to make a point with this post that I have a feeling is going to get mixed reactions. One reason Im hesitant to do so is because, well..Im not sure if this is the place for it. Another reason is because it is VERY personal to me and what Ive been dealing with these last couple years. The final reason is because its a very touchy topic.

With all of that said, I am going to include it here, even with the reasons as to why I am questioning this decision. Heres the thing though, this brings light the daily struggle Ive been dealing with, although it is very short and to the point. I am taking a chance by posting this because Ive been subjected to the worst humanity has to offer during this time so I know the chances of this bringing me hate. HOWEVER, I refuse to be silent about it any longer. Its something that a lot of people have to struggle with and I feel their plight gets swept under the rug because of selfishness and greed.

Im going to be honest here, if you are upset or offended over this post, then I challenge you to take a deep dive inside your brain and figure out why helping the most vulnerable of our citizens is a bad thing. If you come at me with "the people who abuse the system", take a look at how hard it is to actually get the help in the first place. Sure, there might be a select few who abuse the system, honestly Id rather count that as an acceptable loss if it meant that those that needed the help got it. Now, without further adieu, heres my open letter to those in charge of our country.

I challenge any member of Congress, the legislature, the President, Vice President, or media to prove that it is possible to survive on the benefits I receive through Social Security Disability Insurance (SSDI). My monthly income is $943 in SSDI, $63 in EBT, and $22 in state cash assistance. As a person living with a disability, I am unable to work, which is the purpose of the SSDI program — to provide for those who cannot earn an income due to health conditions.

In addition, I have four children I must help provide for, requiring me to maintain at least a 3-bedroom home. Public transportation is not an option due to both my mobility limitations and living in a rural area where no such services are available. I cannot walk long distances or carry groceries to and from a bus stop.

Now tell me, how is someone like me supposed to survive? I ask anyone in a position of power to show me how to live within these constraints. Explain how I am expected to cover rent, utilities, groceries, medical costs, and basic needs on an income that does not reflect the real cost of living, especially when I physically cannot work to supplement that income.

The simple answer cannot be that people with disabilities should just "get a job." That defeats the entire purpose of disability benefits. These benefits are supposed to support those who cannot work, yet they fall drastically short of meeting real-world needs. If you believe these benefits are sufficient, then I challenge you to prove it by living on them yourselves.
