My absolute favorite in the acrobatic world is CONTORTION! There is always room to practice more and more flexibility. It is so fun to push myself to achieve to more back flexibility. Tips for increased back flexibility: -Backbends- you can slowly walk your hands as close to your feet as possible to slowly increase flexibility -Laying on your stomach and using your arms push your chest up and bend your feet up and push your head back as close as your head as possible -lastly after you’ve practiced those two you can slowly practice the scorpion by slowly rocking on your stomach pushing your feet above and close to your head as possible. -Forearm stands and scorpion handstands also increase back flexibility! Also balance and strength 🥰

I call this trick the half leg balance stand, because it takes an incredible amount of constant balancing on your hands. It’s all about leaning and shifting your weight sideways onto the hand that is on the bent leg side to distribute your weight so you can balance into a proper handstand straddle.

Inside leg hang Level: Intermediate Tip: can use either right or left leg How to: This is an upside down trick so to start off you do a straddle invert the pole should be gripping inside your inner thigh/inner hip, from the straddle you swing your leg (ex.right leg). You take that leg and swing it in front of the pole making your thigh stay behind the pole while allowing the rest of the leg to hold in front this causes your knee to bend to allow the pole to be tucked in the back of your knee, upper calf, it will look like a sideways V. Your lower calf is holding the upper part of the pole in place and giving the foot stability. Your left leg is pushed back as far as it can go and then bent down if you want to grab your left foot with your left hand. When you are positioned correctly and stable you can let go out both hands because your legs will hold you. You take both hands, lean back, look back and hold the pole the farthest you can reach your hands down like in a handstand position this helps with back flexibility.( Example video in slide 3. Ex. Discovering new unconventional places to do acrobatics is always fun. Since it’s winter I can’t do acrobatics outside, but I did try some handstand variations holds at the skate park today. The metal vert bar resembled just like a balance beam and gave me the perfect height to practice my balance by leaning forward and allowing me to level out my hands for a strong long hold.

I use a small hoop it’s 25in. in diameter designed for off body tricks mostly using the arms and legs and the lightness of it makes it easy to whip around. 🥰 It’s also great to put on a show with.😉

“Love Lies” By: Khalid Ft. Normani Ex. Wide grip- Your top hand is way above your head holding the pole with your thumb & fingers facing up type of grip. Then your other bottom hand is turned down, with your fingers and thumb facing down for it to be your main support hand to hold your body weight. Then you will use your hands while griping the pole to push your body weight out to fully support your weight, then you can slowly raise up your legs and be supported from this grip without using your legs to grip.
